My daughter began taking violin lessons with Florie at the age of 5. At that time, she was quite shy and Florie was great at creating a comfortable atmosphere allowing her to have fun while she learned to play. Over the years, as my daughter’s interests changed, Florie accommodated her with different styles of teaching and music– including fiddling and shared lessons with her best friend. I am happy to say that at the age of 15, my daughter is still enjoying playing the violin (including playing in the California honors orchestra) and I attribute much of that to Florie’s engaging approach to teaching.
Is your child interested in learning an instrument? How young is too young? Is he or she ready?

Beginning Ukulele is appropriate for those who have never played an instrument. We will learn basic strum patterns, some of the easiest chords and a simple song or two, depending on the speed of the students involved. The Ukulele is small, lightweight, similar to guitar and has soft strings for young, tender hands. A Ukulele is needed for this class. Watermelon Music in Davis has a good selection of inexpensive Ukuleles. Classes take place mornings and early afternoons.
